Rothbury has always been a family favorite when it comes to nice villages to visit. The people are really friendly and the scenery is well worth seeing. A river runs right through Rothbury which is nice to take a walk along, however, the main features I have always considered to make it memorable are the Rothbury stepping stones.

As a child I was always too scared to cross the river through fear of falling in, however in recent years I have had fun crossing the river by this novelty way time and time again.
There are many quirky little shops in the village, and is definately worth stopping at even if you are just passing through. Rothbury is definately one of the places I would recommend visiting if you were to rent a cottage in Northumberland. Rothbury is very close to many other Northumberland Attractions so making it a place to visit after you have been to Alnwick Gardens or Bambrugh Castle would be a perfect way to end your day.
